Welcome to the website of the Research Committee of
the Society of Exploration Geophysicists (SEGRC).
The SEGRC:
-
works to improve
communication among earth scientists interested in applied research,
-
promotes the advancement
of science and technology in the applied geoscience community, and
-
disseminates information
on advances in exploration and exploitation geophysics.
It does this by:
-
organizing research
workshops and focused technical meetings,
-
lending support to sister
geophysical societies worldwide for their research activities, and
-
fostering and maintaining
communication links with related groups, such as the Research
Committees of the EAGE, AAPG, the SPE, etc.
Our specific goal and
objectives are:
- Foster research for the benefit of the Society,
- Help disseminate the results of relavant research,
- Advise and make recommendations of matters involving research,
- Interact with other committees and societies on research issues
to ensure integration,
- Provide new ways in which the Society and its members could be
served,
- Promote a balanced treatment of applied technology, short term
and long term research,
- Assist the industry and government entities on decisions
regarding research funding.
